Durations: 10 min, focus
Components: verbal
When you cast: This creature challenges a target creature they can see within 5 meters, designating it as their adversary. For the duration, they and their adversary are locked in a magical duel, compelled to focus on each other. Each time either of them starts a turn, the active creature must make a Willpower (CHA) check against the caster's spell save DC. On a failure, the active creature gains advantage on all attacks against their adversary and disadvantage on attacks against any other creature. A creature can choose to fail this check. Additionally, whenever either This creature or their adversary voluntarily moves more than 5 meters away from each other, the moving creature must make a Willpower (CHA) check against the caster's spell save DC or take ⨂d4 + spellcasting ability modifier as holy damage. Attacking their adversary counts as maintaining focus.
While caster is focusing on the spell, it gains the following actions:
1 min: End Duel. This creature safely ends the spell.
While caster is focusing on the spell, it gains the following reactions:
⮌, When your adversary attacks a creature other than you: Duelist's Retaliation. You can immediately move up to your full movement directly toward your adversary. If you end this movement within melee range, you can make a melee attack that costs no more than ◆◆.
Spell release: The spell also ends safely if either This creature or their adversary die. If This creature loses focus or if the spell runs for the full duration, both they and their adversary are forced to make Willpower(CHA) check equal to the caster's spellcasting DC or take 2⨂d4 + spellcasting ability holy damage and are pulled up to 5 m towards their adversary. On success a creature takes half damage and is not pulled.
